"... we call them dumb animals, and so they are, for they cannot tell us how they feel, but they do not suffer less because they have no words..."

-Anna Sewell "Black Beauty" (1877)

I've drawn this, listening to the movie soundtrack, and I cried

Lovely piece. There is a lot of Black Beauty's personality in in. Calm. Serene. The horses eyes convey a lot.

It never ceases to amaze me how much they do communicate though. With their body language and expressions. People just need to want to listen.

I love this boy  the poor thing went through so much through his life, from good times to bad. I always loved his story, mainly because it's the horse's point of view and I like the way she wrote it.

He's always my favorite (or one of them)

I would love to seem them as well. I think the book is a good example of how a horse's life really is (though the timeframes are different).

I wish Beauty and Ginger could of been together, they were so well off, despite first impressions but they grew fond of each other...what a shame it all ended, but at least he got another chance.

Thats right

And I'm happy we don't live in 1870, the times have got much better for horses today ;)

True with some cases, but I think it opens rare doors...it so rare to feel like your are there and the best thing was that Beauty never went ill, despite all he went through this lovely stallion never held vice or lunged.

I think that shows how strong a horse can be and loyal and I think it teaches a lot.
